Industrial moves specialist, Hess GmbH, has invested in an Enerpac SL380 gantry system, together with two 8 m header beams and side shift units, as part of a services expansion strategy. The Düsseldorf based company is a leading service provider for lifting, transporting and installing machines and plant, together with in-plant machinery transportation and worldwide machine assembly.

The Enerpac SL380 telescopic hydraulic gantry offers the highest lifting capacity on a 61 cm track gauge in heavy lifting and rigging applications. It is equipped with three stage lifting cylinders for loads up to 3800kN utilising four legs. Like all Enerpac gantries, the SL380 has self-contained hydraulics, electronic controls and Intellilift wireless control system.

The control system allows Hess to locally set-up each leg and use the Intellilift wireless remote control system to achieve the best roaming vantage point, find an unobstructed view and safely manage the load. The wireless system ensures automatic synchronisation of lifting- lowering and travelling with very high accuracy. It also controls the powered side shift units allowing the gantry to move suspended loads seamlessly from side to side.

“The Enerpac SL380 is our first gantry system and an important addition to our range of lifting equipment,” says Joachim Hess, director, Hess GmbH. “Although we looked at other gantries, we wanted a complete system that included self-contained hydraulics and electronic controls and was easily transportable – only the Enerpac SL380 provided this. The hydraulic gantry will allow us to take on larger in-plant projects and has already proved its worth on the first project.”

The SL380 is manufactured at Enerpac Heavy lifting Technology in Hengelo, The Netherlands.
