2016 Heavies Awards

YOUR CHANCE TO ENTER TWO AWARDS FOR THE PRICE OF ONE

UK HEAVY TRANSPORT COMPANIES OF ALL SIZES ARE BEING ENCOURAGED TO CELEBRATE THEIR SUCCESSES BY ENTERING TWO FANTASTIC AWARDS EVENTS

Alongside one of the biggest and most established international events, the ESTA Users’ Night and Awards, comes, for the first time, HeavyTorque’s new industry awards, The Heavies – proudly supporting the HTA.

The prestigious ESTA awards takes place every spring and attracts around 500 guests from around the world. The 2015 event is to be held on Thursday April 23 during the Intermat exhibition in Paris at the Hilton Hotel, Charles de Gaulle Airport.

The HTA works closely with ESTA – the European Association for Abnormal Road Transport and Mobile Cranes – and is one of the organisation’s UK representatives along with the Construction Plant-hire Association. HTA Secretary John Dyne is one of the 2015 ESTA jurors.

ESTA’s awards have has been steadily increasing in size and reputation in recent years and next year’s awards ceremony is expected to be among the biggest yet. Winners in 2014 included Collett and ALE from the UK, Fagioli from Italy and Mammoet, Sarens and Wagenborg Nedlift from the Netherlands.

The deadline for entries is January 17, but ESTA is encouraging companies to try and get their entries in early, to help ease the pressure on the organisers.

ESTA President David Collett said: “The ESTA evening has become firmly established as one of the main events of the year. It is a great chance to meet old friends and business colleagues from different parts of Europe, to make new contacts and celebrate the industry’s achievements and new developments. It is also a great opportunity to debate and to learn from each other and to consider how we can make the whole industry safer and more efficient throughout Europe.”

To complement this exciting event we are this year delighted to be able to introduce The Heavies, a dedicated industry event that recognises excellence throughout the heavy and abnormal load sector.

Hosted by Quentin Willson, TV personality, motoring journalist and founder and campaigner for FairFuelUK, and organised in support of the Heavy Transport Association (HTA), The Heavies is a platform to reward those organisations of all sizes making a significant contribution to the effective and efficient running of the industry.

Entries are welcome from all manner of companies and organisations operating within this niche sector, including sole traders. Prize winners – including escorters, leading figures, policy-makers, buyers, manufacturers and suppliers – will be honoured for their achievements as industry operators, recognising their innovation, outstanding service, efficiency and quality.

The black tie awards ceremony will take place on the evening of 27 March 2015. Set in the impressive surroundings of Hangar 42, Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground, the venue offers a unique opportunity for sponsors to exhibit and showcase their latest technological innovation to an audience of existing customers and future prospects alike.

The deadline for entries is 14 January 2015, and the shortlist will be announced on 03 February 2015.

Heavy Transport Association chairman John Rodell said: “As a specialist sector it’s important that we work together as members of it. Part of that includes having the chance to get together while providing recognition of some great work taking place. The Heavies will do just that and should prove to be a fantastic occasion. I look forward to catching up with friends old and new on the night.”

Submitting a nomination involves simply completing an online form, and organisers are encouraging people to enter both awards to ensure the good work taking place is showcased to as wide an audience as possible.

Announcement

HeavyTorque White Logo

It is with regret, that the HeavyTorque team have decided to take a stand based on an industry-wide ‘blind eye’ to the waste in the magazine and periodicals business.

HeavyTorque (#15, July 2018) was the final issue to grace the shop shelves, both on the High Street and across the travel network. As part of our onward strategy to adapt, HeavyTorque will now be distributed exclusively through controlled circulation and available through printed subscription.

Please note, this change will only affect newsstand purchasers. There will be no change for our loyal print subscribers.

Why the newsstand change? Quite simply, we can no longer (in good conscience) participate in a distribution programme that creates such an inherent waste of our precious natural resources – and money.

For those of you who have enjoyed HeavyTorque from the newsstand, we sincerely appreciate your business – and we would hope that you’ve enjoyed the magazine enough to consider a direct subscription?

Single Issues

If you prefer to purchase individual issues (one at a time), you will still have the ability to do so, both online (via the website), or by calling our offices +44 (0) 1572 3450872. Orders for single issues received before the pre-publication deadline will be mailed along with the subscribers.
