THE COMPETITION BETWEEN EUROPEAN SPECIALIST TRAILER MANUFACTURERS HAS NOW BECOME STRONGER THAN EVER BEFORE, WITH NOOTEBOOM LAUNCHING THE LATEST GENERATION MANOOVR MULTI-PL PENDLE-AXLE SEMI LOWLOADERS. BOB BEECH WENT TO THE LAUNCH IN HOLLAND TO SEE THE NEW TECHNOLOGY FIRST HAND.

Truck operators and other trailer manufacturers have been watching and waiting for Nooteboom’s response to the independent suspension systems their competitors have introduced in the last few years. The Dutch manufacturer held off from competing in this sector, but were aware they had to respond to the new designs from competitors – who offered lower deck heights, better steering-angles and increased axle-loading capacity (when compared with beam axles). Nooteboom’s existing pendle-axle designs matched the axle-load capacity and steering capability of the new independent suspension systems, but could not achieve the ultra-low deck heights required by heavy transport operators running throughout Europe.
