THE HEAVIES 2016

The Heavies Awards 2016

IT MAY BE COLD OUTSIDE BUT THE HEAT IS ON!

THE ABNORMAL LOAD MOVEMENT FRATERNITY IS AN INDUSTRY WITHIN AN INDUSTRY. REGULAR 44-TONNE TRACTOR-TRAILERS PLOD UP AND DOWN MOTORWAYS, FILLED WITH EVERYTHING FROM BAKED BEANS TO BREEZE BLOCKS, TEA BAGS TO BRICKS. THEY KEEP UK PLC MOVING. BUT THE SPECIALISTS – WHO MOVE THE NATION’S INFRASTRUCTURE INTO PLACE – LAY THE FOUNDATIONS FOR IT ALL. YOU DESERVE RECOGNITION FOR THAT EFFORT. THE HEAVIES IS WHERE YOU’LL FIND IT.

Last year’s inaugural Heavies awards handed out plaudits not just to the great and the good in the industry – but to some lesser well-known names among their peers. They are raising standards, showing that small can be beautiful too.

VARIETY AND EXCELLENCE

Nineteen awards in total, each aiming to seek out the innovators and the best performers – in the widest range of operations. It’s a hugely diverse industry after all. But perhaps you are dithering about entering, not even sure if you qualify? A comment from last year’s judges is worth hearing again: “Entries do not need to be full of glitz and snappy presentations. We can see through that, to the essential value of the submission.” That philosophy means the field is truly wide open – to large and small companies alike.

HANGAR 42 & 'SALLY TRAFFIC'

The 2015 awards were held in Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground’s Hangar 42 – a fantastic venue and the perfect arena to showcase the super-size trucks and trailers that are the tools of your trade. We are back there for 2016, adding sparkle and glamour. Radio royalty is hosting the event. Sally Boazman, better known to BBC Radio 2 listeners as ‘Sally Traffic,’ has agreed to host The Heavies 2016, on Friday 18th March 2016. Sally will help celebrate the achievements of our industry – with the premier operators, escorters, industry figures, policy makers, manufacturers and suppliers. We will recognise innovation and outstanding service, efficiency and quality. To win – or even be shortlisted – is evidence of the highest accomplishment, judged by an international panel of industry experts.

NAPKINS AND NETWORKING

All industries have a standout premier event where they get together and meet their peers and friends. The Heavies 2016 is that opportunity for you. It’s an ideal venue to make new business contacts. And whether you’re a winner, or you’ve been shortlisted, or you are at the event as a guest, the evening is the talk of this sector of the industry. It’s also a great way to entertain clients and reward staff for their efforts over the past year. Last year’s winners shouldn’t rely on submitting the same projects for an award. Nor can they assume their title is safe – there’s real competition from operators few (till now) may have heard of previously.

CHARITY AUCTION

Our chosen Charity in 2016 is TransAid. They are an international development charity for people in Africa and in developing countries. They identify, champion, implement and share local transport solutions, improving access to basic services and economic opportunity. They raise safety standards, and save lives. The evenings charity auction will be hosted and conducted by none other than, Mr Jeremy Martell. A familiar face and resident to those who regularly attend auctions, Jeremy has been plying his trade across Europe and is a regular at auction houses such as Mannheim and BCA – his speciality being HGV sales.

With over 20 prizes pledged thus far (novelty and specialist), The Heavies ‘charity auction’ will provide fantastic entertainment value, whilst raising some serious funds for our international charity partner, TransAid.

ENTRTY DEADLINE

If you’ve not had chance to submit your entry thus far – please don’t worry! We are still collating all entries and will be able to accommodate your submissions up till 22nd January 2016. If you feel you still need a couple more days grace, please contact Vicky Binley on +44 (0) 845 1 700 300 for guidance.

James White, Commercial and Business Development

Van der Vlist Group

HeavyTorque is an essential read magazine for decision makers within the heavy haulage and specialist transport industry and provides a great opportunity for manufacturers to make their mark. The adverts are well produced, editorials exceptionally informative and the staff’s support has always been excellent. Promoting our products in HeavyTorque magazine is one of the best marketing decisions we have made.

Martin Pickering

Marketing Communications Manager

Kelsa choose to advertise in HeavyTorque because its content is clearly for serious players in the haulage industry, with a wide range of informative articles. We know that it reaches the right people and covers aspects of trucking most others do not, offering information on changes within the industry as well as new products and services. As a designer I’m also aware of the extremely high quality of the photographic content and print. We are really happy with the service we receive and have no hesitate in recommending HeavyTorque to truckers everywhere.

Frank Seddon

Kelsa Truck Products Ltd

I certainly enjoy reading HeavyTorque - and whilst we do not operate any heavy haulage ourselves - we do so on a sub-contract basis. Therefore, it’s good to see what equipment is being used by both suppliers, and the industry operators alike. The content and photographic quality is always first rate. Keep up the great work!

Duncan Rogers, Managing Director

Projector Lifting Service Ltd

HeavyTorque magazine is a class apart. Its orientation illustrates our sector on a different level. The general look is really unique and we value the highly informative content. The magazine is an ideal communication platform and partner for the Faymonville Group – who offer the complete transport solution for payloads from 15t to 15,000t… and beyond.

Alain Faymonville, President

Faymonville Group

HeavyTorque is the magazine for the heavy haulage industry. The Magazine offers a very high standard of ads and editorial and the design and content is always exceptional. Advertising in HeavyTorque has been a great decision for us.

Katie Marshall, Marketing Manager

RUD Chains

HeavyTorque has set a new standard in specialist print and on-line journalism. Not only is it attractive and appealing with great photography and layout, but the features provide in depth and incisive insight into this highly specialised sector of the road transport industry.

Phil Moon, Marketing Manager

DAF Trucks Ltd

From the drivers’ viewpoint, HeavyTorque is a must-read for those interested or associated with the heavy haulage industry. The title is very informative on a wide range of projects - not only in the UK - but worldwide. On another note, it was a personal privilege (as a driver) to be invited to the industry awards evening, The Heavies… but to then be awarded 'The Heavies Hero' in 2017 was an amazing achievement. May I say a massive thank you to my fellow peers for their continued support and nominations!

Kevin Brookes, Driver (and Heavies Hero 2017)!

Ascroft Transport

We have been more than impressed with the professional production of HeavyTorque. It’s been a pleasure to deal with the team across all elements of the process from advertising, design and editorial content. A first class approach to the management and most importantly the quality of content makes HeavyTorque an obvious choice for us.

Linda Galt, Director

HeavyTorque is a “must read” for renowned decision makers of the heavy haulage industry and therefore a great opportunity to make one’s mark. The ads look fabulous, editorials are exceptionally informative and the staff’s support has always been great. Advertising in HeavyTorque Magazine is one of the best marketing choices we have made.

Mrs Brunhilde Rauscher-Doll, Director
