SPOTLIGHT: ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURER

HeavyTorque Issue Five: TRIDEC

STEERING SUCCESS

WITH OVER 50.000 STEERING SYSTEMS SOLD WORLDWIDE, TRIDEC IS A MARKET LEADER IN THIS FIELD. THE COMPANY RECENTLY CELEBRATED ITS 25TH ANNIVERSARY. GOOD REASONS FOR HEAVYTORQUE’S LEONARD LOOIJENGA TO TRAVEL TO SON IN THE NETHERLANDS TO LEARN MORE ABOUT TRIDEC AND THEIR PRODUCT PORTFOLIO.

Tridec was established in 1990 to develop, produce, and sell steering systems and special suspensions for trailers. During the first years a steady growth was realised: in 1994 Tridec had a basic product program available, ready for serial production. From that moment Tridec invested in a worldwide sales network, and continued to develop its product range. Sales were so good that, in 1999, the production facilities in Son became too small. A second plant was then opened in Portugal. By 2004 the limits of the building in Son were again reached: Tridec purchased a neighbouring property, where a new warehouse was built, and production and office space increased. In 2008 Tridec became part of Jost World. Jost brands also include: Rockinger, Edbro, and Jost Axle Systems. Jost’s head office is based in Neu-Isenburg, Germany. The company employs over 3000 people worldwide.

150 people currently work for Tridec. Half of them are based in Murtede-Cantanhede, Portugal, where Tridec fabricates all metal parts. The other half are based in Son, where the assembly, engineering, product development, and sales & marketing departments are based. The aim of Tridec is to develop and built the most innovative – and reliable – steering and suspension systems worldwide.

Announcement

HeavyTorque White Logo

It is with regret, that the HeavyTorque team have decided to take a stand based on an industry-wide ‘blind eye’ to the waste in the magazine and periodicals business.

HeavyTorque (#15, July 2018) was the final issue to grace the shop shelves, both on the High Street and across the travel network. As part of our onward strategy to adapt, HeavyTorque will now be distributed exclusively through controlled circulation and available through printed subscription.

Please note, this change will only affect newsstand purchasers. There will be no change for our loyal print subscribers.

Why the newsstand change? Quite simply, we can no longer (in good conscience) participate in a distribution programme that creates such an inherent waste of our precious natural resources – and money.

For those of you who have enjoyed HeavyTorque from the newsstand, we sincerely appreciate your business – and we would hope that you’ve enjoyed the magazine enough to consider a direct subscription?
