Brainchild of the now synonymous industry title, HeavyTorque. Andy is a sales and marketing man at heart – with a true passion for B2B printed matter – and match fishing! For the past 20 years, he has been instrumental in launching and developing several industry publications through a diverse range of sectors – from metro and light rail – to construction, waste management and haulage.
Andy is a proud father of two beautiful daughters.
Born Salisbury 1955. Trained in print production with Morgan Grampian Publishers, then worked in communications positions at Volvo Trucks, Marconi Command & Control and Hewlett Packard. A full-time truck driver from 1985-1991, he was PR Manager for Commercial Vehicles at Mercedes-Benz in the UK from 1991-2009. Ian became a journalist in June 2009, specialising in commercial vehicles.
Margo Cole is a very experienced writer and editor who specialises in construction, infrastructure, transport and heavy equipment. She trained as a civil engineer before becoming a journalist, and has also studied psychology to Masters level. During a 25-year career in journalism Margo has worked on a range of business magazines, journals and websites, as well as for PR agencies, trade bodies and blue chip companies. She has been a regular freelance contributor on HeavyTorque since its second issue.
Former Editor-in-Chief of Commercial Motor and Truck and Driver magazine. Since 2009 he has been a freelance journalist, video presenter and media consultant. During his 30-years plus of reporting on the CV industry he has won a number of awards including the British Society of Magazine Editors ‘Business-to-Business Magazines Editor of the Year’, the CILT Logistics and Transport Journalist of the Year, and the Cummins CV Writer of the Year. He is a current C+E Licence holder.
With a Bachelor’s Degree in logistics management, Leonard has been at the heart of the road transport industry since 1985. With an impressive CV and roles that included traffic manager, general manager and latterly HQSE manager. Leonard now puts his wealth of industry knowledge and experience to very good use with HeavyTorque.
Born Edinburgh 1962. Trained as an apprentice then qualified commercial vehicle technician with Scottish ERF dealership. HGV Class One driving licence holder since 1989, the same year he started occasional contributions to road transport magazines. Freelance journalist and acting features editor at Transport News since January 2004. Member of the Institute of Road Transport Engineers, Guild of Motoring Journalists and Institute of Advanced Motorists. Voted Newspress Commercial Vehicle Writer of the Year 2016.
Steve Banner became a journalist almost 40 years ago, initially working on a local daily paper in Surrey. He then switched to magazines and specialised in writing about the motor industry. He went freelance over 25 years ago and today concentrates on commercial vehicles – vans, trucks, buses and coaches – while keeping a keen eye on what’s happening on the car scene. Over the years he’s written for a wide variety of consumer, trade and technical publications and contributed to several leading national newspapers as well as edited both weekly and monthly magazines.
At the tender age of 21, Vicky excitedly called her Mum to announce she had landed her first job as a Telesales Executive (Emap) and could get paid for talking all day!
Fast forward to 2016 and Vicky has attained a wealth of experience in both publishing and events – at local, national and international level – across a diverse range of sectors, from – giftware to light rail – gardening to haulage (and everything in between).
Vicky enjoys holidays (who doesn’t!), family time, fancy dress parties and singing (badly).
Accounts Manager Tracy joined #TeamNimble in November 2016, following her career in the childcare, finance and business industries. Although a first-rate approach to work in the office: Tracy can often be found rocking out at concerts and travelling across Europe, enjoying the many sights!
Her favourite pastime though, is nothing more than a cost night in with friends and family.
Following her time working for the Civil Service, Geena enjoyed a variety of administrative roles before joining the Nimble team in January 2016. She now takes good care of HeavyTorque subscriptions whilst assisting with all marketing activities.
In her free time, Geena enjoys baking, listening to music and reading a variety of books – from cryptic crime novels – to classic love stories (and just about everything in-between!)
Trained at IPC Magazines and staffed on various farming and transport journals before eventually moving onto Reed Business Publishing. After relocating to Pembrokeshire, Paul has been a freelance production journalist for over 30 years, working on magazines as diverse as Commercial Motor, Flight International, Land Rover Owner and Motor Ship.
