The Faymonville Group acquires Industrie COMETTO S.p.A.

March 7th, 2017 – Faymonville, the manufacturer of semi-trailers for the special haulage industry has reached an agreement to acquire 100% of the shares of Industrie COMETTO S.p.A. based in the North of Italy. With this strategic decision, Faymonville set the milestone to expand in the self-propelled modular trailer segment and strengthens its market position.

Industrie COMETTO S.p.A. is one of the leading worldwide acting manufacturers for heavy modular and especially self-propelled trailers. In addition, the company offers special self-propelled equipment for industrial applications: shipyard and steel mill transporters as well as for handling technologies. Founded in 1954, Cometto gained worldwide awareness by providing the transporter for the NASA Orbiter Space Shuttle in the 80’s and by being involved in the ARIANE projects early 90s.

By bundling Faymonville with Cometto under one solid brand, the Faymonville Group invests in new product segments and completes its product range.

The Faymonville product portfolio starts with the MAX Trailer brand which produces semi-trailers for payloads from 15-60t. Faymonville itself is the leading specialist for transport solutions from 30t up to 1,000t on non-propelled trailers. The Cometto brand covers the self-propelled trailer market.

Integrating Cometto in the Faymonville Group will be beneficial for both companies: Faymonville will combine its knowledge in production processes with Cometto’s existing know-how in the self-propelled modular segment. The Faymonville quality management will not only interact in production but also in R&D, worldwide service and spare parts delivery to provide the best products and the highest service to its customers. “A higher production capacity together with an improved quality will be the result. This acquisition will significantly increase our market position” said Alain Faymonville, President of the Faymonville Group.

With this takeover, the Faymonville Group can offer now worldwide transport equipment to its customers from 15 to 15,000 tons … and above.

As well, the visual identity will be integrated in the Faymonville corporate identity and now forms part of the Faymonville, ‘Trailers to the MAX’.

HeavyTorque White Logo

It is with regret, that the HeavyTorque team have decided to take a stand based on an industry-wide ‘blind eye’ to the waste in the magazine and periodicals business.

HeavyTorque (#15, July 2018) was the final issue to grace the shop shelves, both on the High Street and across the travel network. As part of our onward strategy to adapt, HeavyTorque will now be distributed exclusively through controlled circulation and available through printed subscription.

Please note, this change will only affect newsstand purchasers. There will be no change for our loyal print subscribers.

Why the newsstand change? Quite simply, we can no longer (in good conscience) participate in a distribution programme that creates such an inherent waste of our precious natural resources – and money.

For those of you who have enjoyed HeavyTorque from the newsstand, we sincerely appreciate your business – and we would hope that you’ve enjoyed the magazine enough to consider a direct subscription?
